Named in honor of United States Army Staff Sergeant Dustin Wright

SSG Wright was a native of Lyons, Georgia, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in July of 2012. After graduating from Airborne School, he started Special Forces training. In 2014, after completing the Special Forces Qualification course, he was assigned to the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne). In January 2016, Wright deployed as a Special Forces Engineer Sergeant to Special Operations Task Force North Africa.

SSG Wright died during enemy contact while deployed to Niger, West Africa, on October 4th, 2017. He was awarded the Silver Star for his actions during the firefight posthumously.

SSG Wright's awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with C Device, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Niger Cross of Valor with Star, Special Forces Tab, Parachutist Badge, and Combat Infantryman Badge.
