Wisdom for 35+ The Surprising Benefits of Reading Proverbs 05/22/2025

Good morning Peeps! Today I am in Proverbs, and it's humbling for me!
This is more than a reminder to treasure our relationships
I like this breakdown, I invite you to listen.
What speaks to you?
Do you hear what Jesus needed you to hear?
Or maybe you keep losing focus, know God will be sure you hear what He wants you to.
Seek Him first, we will be focusing on this one line for awhile.
Have a blessed day, remember, Not my will, but only His.
Til Next time,

Jacob worked 7 whole years in order to marry Rachel and then was deceived into marrying her sister Leah. Leah didn’t feel loved and knew that she was never the favorite. The 2 sisters became rivals for much of their lives.

As Leah began to have children, as she named them she saw her circumstances, her misery, and how unloved she was. Looking at Genesis 29:31-35 you see the names of the children are given because, “the Lord has seen my misery”, then “the Lord heard that I am not loved”, then hoping “at last my husband will become attached to me”.

Next Leah chose to take her focus off of herself and her circumstances. She decided to name her next son Judah stating “This time I will praise the Lord”.

It is no mistake that Jesus came from the tribe of Judah. He came from the tribe where the son was named in praise to God.
When we get to Revelation 5:5 we see Jesus as the one who prevailed who is called the “Lion of the tribe of Judah”

If Judah means praise to God then that means that Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Praise.

How often do you overflow with praise to God? So often we are like Leah and we tell God and those around us about our hardships, our misery, our being unloved, and it takes us far too long before we declare “No matter what, I will praise the Lord!”

When Paul wrote the Philippians he knew they were undergoing hardships and persecution and yet he told them not to rejoice when everything was going right. Not to rejoice when you feel like it.
Radically he proclaimed to “Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again; Rejoice!”

If Judah means praise making Jesus the Lion of the tribe of praise then I want to be part of His tribe, continually taking my place as one who will praise whether I understand my current circumstances or not. My circumstances and feelings are fleeting and yet God is forever faithful.

May you and I continually choose to praise!
