🚨 BRYAN PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT 🚨
Within the first minutes of shift this morning, TWO frontline fire engines are out of service.

Our fleet maintenance team worked tirelessly to troubleshoot the issues, but the damage was done — and the impact on your neighborhood was real.

🔸 Engine 3 had to swap into the last functional Bryan reserve engine we have left.
🔸 Engine 2 had to move into a borrowed TEEX engine — an apparatus with no tools, no equipment, no Bryan Fire Department inspection or maintenance standards, and no functional radio or MDT.

That means:
➡️ No radio communication with dispatch from the engine itself.
➡️ No MDT for routing, call updates, or critical safety information.
➡️ The crew is forced to rely solely on handheld radios — a huge safety compromise when responding to emergencies where clear, reliable, and interoperable communication is essential.

Swapping into new units takes time and precision. It took three separate engines working together to move equipment, ensure readiness, and restore coverage — all to minimize the period where parts of Bryan had no fire protection at all.

⚠️ Meanwhile, the city’s reporting system still showed “no reduced coverage.”
But the men and women on the frontlines lived a very different reality.

Bryan, you deserve better than this.
Your firefighters deserve better than this.
Your neighborhoods deserve reliable, safe fire apparatus — not borrowed units, broken fleet, and engines without basic communication tools.

To the citizens of Bryan and to the Friends of the Bryan Fire Fighters Association thank you for standing with us, for asking the hard questions, and for demanding answers from City Hall and Fire Administration about the safety deficiencies putting both our firefighters and our community at risk.

Your voices matter.
Your support has pushed a select few council members to step outside the council chambers and see firsthand the safety concerns your firefighters face on the frontlines every single day.

But we aren’t at the finish line. Not even close.

As of this morning:

⚠️ 120+ open fleet repair tickets, some more than one year old
⚠️ Dozens of DOT and NFPA safety violations
⚠️ An administration more focused on smokescreen posts and misleading unit reports than on fixing the problem

While your city administration and elected officials spend today with their families, your firefighters will be standing by, ready to respond to yours.

We are thankful for your trust.
We are thankful for your support.
And we are thankful for a community that refuses to look the other way.

Your Bryan Fire Fighters, representing 100% of Bryan’s frontline firefighters, remain united in standing up for your safety.
We won’t stop fighting for safer apparatus, safer stations, and a safer Bryan.

Bryan deserves the truth — and our firefighters deserve better.

Yesterday, the City of Bryan released a statement dismissing our documented fire apparatus failures as “misleading.” That wasn’t just an attempt to reassure the public — it was an attempt to downplay the real issues your firefighters face every single day while protecting this community.

And the message from leadership is even more alarming.

The Acting City Manager was told that the only safety concern in the entire fire department is “routine mechanical items on Engine 3.”

Let that sink in.

Meanwhile, here’s what firefighters on the street are experiencing:

🚒 Engines failing on calls
🚫 Units going out of service with no reserves available
⚠️ Ladder trucks with repeated safety issues
🚑 Medics running with known problems
🏚️ Stations reporting the same failures again and again
👥 Staffing shortages that strain every shift

So we have to ask: Why is our administration telling City Management that everything is fine?
Why minimize or hide issues that impact the safety of your families and the men and women sworn to protect them?

Even worse — firefighters are threatened with discipline if they fail to report safety concerns, yet leadership seems comfortable ignoring or downplaying those concerns when reporting up the chain. That double standard puts everyone at risk.

This is not leadership.
This is not transparency.
And this is not how you protect a community.

Bryan needs — and deserves — better.

We need leadership that:

🔥 Tells the truth
🔥 Puts safety over politics
🔥 Supports its firefighters, not silences them
🔥 Fixes problems instead of hiding them

Your firefighters will continue to speak up.
We will continue to report unsafe apparatus.
We will continue to push for real solutions — not spin, not deflection, not excuses.

Because our commitment is to you — the citizens of Bryan — and to the firefighters who respond when you call for help.

It’s time for change.
It’s time for accountability.
It’s time to protect Bryan’s firefighters so they can protect Bryan.
