I love living in the Hill Country and Hays County and wanted to have a page to share all the great things this little piece of Earth has for us to enjoy.

Dripping Springs update: New Super HEB under construction. Home Depot opened recently & McDonalds is here now as well. Dripping Springs is officially big time. LCRA pipeline from Lake Travis to this area is really going to keep the gas pedal to floor in regards to the growth SW of Austin.

If you ever find yourself wandering around near Driftwood at lunch time and have had BBQ for too many days in a row and want something different. I highly recommend the Hays City Store & Cafe. Hays City is basically a convenience store at the intersection of 150 & 3237. The intersection of these 2 roads is exactly 9 miles eastish of Wimberly and 9 miles west of Kyle. Any of the burgers are what you want. The drive on 150 between 3237 and 12 is one of the prettiest areas of the hill country. Driftwood, Mandola's Winery and the nearby Inn above Onion Creek are each worthy of the drive.

BBQ is always a good choice. And it doesn't get much better than the Salt Lick. Conveniently located in nearby Driftwood on scenic 1826. My favorite is the brisket.

I'd like to kick off the start of the Hays County Highlights page with a tribute to the Buda Lions Club and their annual Weiner Dog Races held each year at the beautiful Buda City Park. ALL the proceeds from the wonderfully fun family event go to the Lions Club to support their cause of helping local kiddos.
