Horizontal cedar privacy fence in Buda, TX!

The yard (like many) had a slope to it so we stair-stepped the panels to follow the grade, and the fence had to curve around some obstacles along the way. Honestly the curve ended up being one of our favorite parts, it gives the whole fence this really elegant flow that makes it look like it was always meant to be there.

The secret to a fence that lasts? It's underground. 👇

On a recent installation, we removed the existing posts and found only 13 inches of concrete below the surface. Here in Texas, that's just not enough to hold up against shifting soil, wind, and weather.

A good rule of thumb is posts should be set AT LEAST 1/3 of the total fence height into the ground, though that can vary depending on how they're set. But post depth is just one piece of the puzzle. The best fences come down to the right materials, proper technique, attention to detail, and years of experience knowing what works and what doesn't.

When getting quotes, don't be afraid to ask a company about their process. We make sure our quotes are detailed, so you're always comparing apples to apples - not oranges.
