The City of Buffalo has been advised by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and Wright County MN - Wright County Public Health that Buffalo Lake is now OPEN for swimming & fishing.

Please Be Advised in Both Buffalo Lake & Pulaski Lake: After storms & heavy rain events, water quality may vary and can change quickly, and could pose health risks. Please be mindful when participating in Lake Activities.

Last night’s storms brought a significant amount of rain, with over 4 inches falling in about an hour, resulting in localized flooding in the downtown area. If you own or operate a business in the affected area, please check for any signs of water intrusion or damage. If you do have sewer damage only please call 763-682-1001, use the water reclamation (Sewer department) prompt, your voicemail we will be answered by our on-call staff. For storm water in your basement, you will need to call local professionals.

As a precaution, we are temporarily closing the Sturges beach area and fish docks in that area while we conduct water quality testing to ensure the floodwaters have not compromised safety. Lab results typically take 1 to 5 days to return, since the storm was widspread, other communities might be in similar situations.
