Did you know that su***de is one of the leading causes of death among teens? It’s not something that most people think about, whether it be a lack of awareness or simply because they do not to.

There are people all around you fighting battles that you don’t know about, understand, or may not even comprehend. A “hey, how are you doing?” or even a friendly smile and quick exchange may not seem that impactful, but for some, knowing that they’re seen can be the most impactful and live-saving thing that can happen.

So today, sit down with your teen and check-in with how life is going, give that classmate a smile and say hello as you walk by. It might just save their life.

Su***de prevention is not just a month, it takes everyone being there for everyone.

🎵🎶“Sun, sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on us!”…. tomorrow at the ! ☀️ ♥️

The kickoff event this evening was a blast, and we can’t wait to see all of your smiling faces tomorrow as Dr. Happy and our walk around and disperse free toys, games, books, balloons and stickers to the brave kiddo’s in our community that have overcome, or are currently fighting cancer!

Our goal this year is to pass out over FIVE HUNDRED toys and games to kids at the event!

So if you see us, (Dr. Happy is pretty hard to miss!!!) stop by for a red nose, smiley ballon, pin and picture!

Though all of here at are still committed to keeping our social media presence to a minimum in support of mental health, this past week we had the opportunity to be part of something that HAD TO BE SHARED!

This past week, we were approached by an individual who would like to remain anonymous. This individual had a beautiful vehicle that they wanted to donate to a family in need. With help from our friends over at , we were able to find a family of 5 who were in DESPERATE need of a vehicle and had been without one for sometime, and simply gift the car to them.

You never fail to surprise us, WNY! And, as the sun begins to shine more and more, and we here at The Cheer Foundation step into our “busy season” with fun events and exciting times, we hope to see you around helping us to bring cheer, joy and most importantly hope to those who need it most.

This week we had the pleasure of finally presenting our THIRD and FINAL Community Hero Award for 2023!

Our last community hero is the wonderful Chrissy Matz. Not only is Chrissy a beautiful person inside and out, but she truly exemplifies what it means to be a community hero in the way that despite her own families’ challenging times, her mind is still on helping and caring for others. We believe that this excerpt from the individual that nominated her below speaks for itself. THANK YOU for who you are Chrissy. It is an honor to call you a neighbor here in our city, and we could not be more honored to present you with this years award!

“Chrissy is a mom of a fellow cancer kid and she has formed a support group for other moms enduring this horrible experience.

Chrissy is a warrior in all senses despite whatever she’s been faced with, moments before she’s smiling and is heroicly able to handle everything that comes in front of her without a second thought, with happiness shimmering through her. Chrissy is beyond inspirational for all families, helping guide them through all of their life experiences. While also so selflessly giving whatever she can to bring joy to them or their kiddos.

She is brave and SO courageous to be experiencing her own child’s diagnosis, but still doing what she can to be a helping hand to those she’s witnesssing around her. Knowing Chrissy personally is an honor, because she truly is the epitome of magical and heroic. She is inspiring in all of her character, and I know she’s admired by all those she meets in this community.”
