Workers World Party - Buffalo

In keeping with the theme of celebrating workers, we will be holding a film screening of The Salt of the Earth (1954) this upcoming Tues 5/5 at 6pm at 335 Richmond Ave.
This film was banned during the Red Scare because of its strong pro-worker takes and because some of the cast and crew were socialists. The director was part of the Hollywood 10 and the lead actress was chased out of the country by fascists.
We live in a time when Latine (and other migrant) laborers are under attack by capitalist and colonial policing forces like ICE -- making organizing efforts for these nationally oppressed siblings extremely difficult. We also live in a time where anti-socialist/anti-communist legislation and practices are heating back up.
Despite this, we hope this film reminds our audience that workers make everything run, and that class is primary but nationality is not secondary.
