Helping women *enjoy* menstruation without the need for meds or hormones
01/08/2024
Did you know this?!?
One of the simplest things we can do to support more easeful menstruation is be gentler on our senses. Turn down the lights and the music, reduce the spice in your cooking, and spend time in peaceful environments (supporting your sight).
Our bodies are in a more sensitive heightened state during menstruation, so these actions help to balance us out and reduce stress in the body.
(Remember....stress is the number one thing that's messing up your period!!)
Does this resonate with your experience?? Let me know in the comments.
And if you're wanting easier, pain-free menstruation without meds...book a strategy call with me. We'll talk about how natural solutions from Āyurved and Yoga can help you feel more vibrant, healthy, and energized again. Wanting to eat healthier this New Year?
Learn from my mistakes. Here are 3 things I needed to learn in order to finally heal my digestive issues:
1. Many healthy foods are not easy to digest.
The huge bowls of raw kale salad I was eating were just perpetuating my issues with bloating and constipation.
Many foods touted as "healthy" don't necessarily support optimal digestion. Raw greens, nut butters, granola and yogurt, or fruit mixed with protein can all contribute to bloating, gas, acid reflux, or feeling heavy after eating.
2. Snacking all day was making my blood sugar problems worse
I had the emergency energy bar with me wherever I went because I would experience low blood sugar at least weekly. I'd get hot, have clammy palms, and even start shaking. I thought that experiencing this meant that I needed to eat more often, so I doubled down on snacking to prevent those low blood sugar episodes. The constant snacking was actually making it worse! Now I eat 3 meals (and only 3), and basically never have low blood sugar issues.
3. Food sensitivities aren't permanent conditions.
I thought that I would never be able to have dairy again. I thought that fennel made my mouth swell up and get itchy. And I thought it would be this way forever. It turns out that those sensitivities were evidence of how imbalanced my digestive tract was. As I cleaned up my digestion, dairy and fennel are now things I eat daily, without symptoms.
It can be frustrating to navigate the nutrition world without an expert guide. You don't have to go through the same ups and downs.

Nourishing a healthy menstrual cycle.
It can be difficult to figure out what eating Āyurvedically looks like in a whole day, when you're just seeing one-off recipes or meals.
This is a reflection of a regular work day in my life - the meals are delicious and home-made. I prep my breakfast the night before and set the Instant Pot to cook it so it's ready when the family is hungry.
After breakfast I typically cut up veggies and set up lunch. Dinner gets cooked around 3 or 3:30 while my son has his afternoon snack.
I loved this set of meals - the soup and sushi added texture differences and variety, while still sticking to the 60:40 balance bowl principles I learned from .
In addition to being delicious, these meals help keep my energy up and my menstrual cycle symptom-free.
I hope this post sparks curiosity and inspiration for your next meal! What questions do you have for me about it? 🤔
