Today we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. It was instituted in the 13th century and originated from the visions of Belgian nun Giuliana di Cornillon, who in 1207 experienced a vision highlighting the need for a feast honoring the Eucharist.

This feast celebrates the real presence of Jesus Christ in the consecrated bread and wine. It calls us to reflect on Jesus’ suffering, death and sacrificial love which are made present in every Mass. The secondary focus is on the Body of Christ as the Church, emphasizing the unity within the Christian community.
