Converting an A/C from R22 to R-410A may not be worth it! How much does it cost to convert R22 to R-410A?
The cost to convert a central air conditioner from R-22 to R-410A can range anywhere from $2,500 to over $4,500 in the Buford area.
If your AC unit is 10+ years old, it is not really worth the cost to convert!

You cannot just switch refrigerants because R410-A and R-22 have different chemical properties. R410-A operates at a higher pressure.
If you put R410-A into an R-22 system, the parts will rupture due to the increased force. For an old unit no-one can guarantee that it will last because having higher pressure in the lines with different chemical properties the coil may start having a leakage.

If your A/C system runs on R-22 refrigerant and it isn't cooling as it should because the system got old your best and cheapest option would be to just replace the entire R-22 unit with an R-410A unit.
The R-22 refrigerant is extremely expensive nowadays because the R-22 A/C systems are no longer being manufactured.
So, if you call out a technician to service your A/C system and if he needs to add refrigerant you'll end up paying anywhere from $180 to $600 for R22 Freon, depending on how much freon you will need.

[On January 1, 2010, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) implemented a ban on the production and import of R22, except for continuing servicing needs of existing equipment. The EPA also banned the manufacture and installation of new R22 AC or heat pump systems.]

Replacing your furnace filter regularly saves you money and keeps you healthy! Why is it important to replace the furnace filter regularly?
Changing the air filter in your furnace regularly will prevent dust, dirt, mold spores, soot, bacteria, and allergens from building up in the air inside your home. The life of your furnace and the health and safety of your family depend on regular heating system maintenance.

What happens if you don't change the filter in the furnace?
Without a new air filter, the furnace will overheat every time it starts up again. This is referred to as short cycling. Dirty furnace filters cause your furnace to work harder than it should due to a decrease in airflow. The harder your furnace works, the quicker its parts will wear out and need repairs.

Does a better furnace filter make a difference?
A clean filter will not only allow your furnace and A/C to operate at peak performance, thus saving you money on energy bills, but it will also prolong the life of your furnace.
