We are excited about this milestone event in our club and community. Due to excessive heat, we will hold our big celebration in October.

80 years ago “showing a determination to keep Bunnlevel in the ranks of progressive communities, public spirited citizens of that section assembled recently in the Bunnlevel School and organized a Ruritan Club, which has as its mission the promotion of civic projects sponsored for the good of the community. The club was believed to be the first in Harnett County.

By-laws of the national organization require that one-third of the members must be farmers, one-third must be businessmen and the balance of members may be either”. Notably, there was one pastor and one school principal among them.”

“The Ruritans wasted little time in getting down to work and carrying out their mission. Their first object will be to furnish play ground equipment for the Bunnlevel School.”
(Excerpted from the Harnett County News, June 27, 1946.)

The first president was David Blalock, Sr.

The list of charter members include names such as Allen, Bethune, Byrd and Parker with several other names in the community like Blalock, Brock, Cannady, Cannon, Hobbs, Hood, Keith, Morgan, Shaw, Strickland, Thomas and Woodley.

Other highlights over the years include
1947- sponsored a Boy Scout Troop
