Forgotten To Spoiled Rotten Animal Sanctuary

Several weeks ago when I was asked to take a tiny dog that had been surrendered because he had cancer I agreed. I had no idea that he would completely steal my heart or that the cancer would overtake him with record speed. All I knew is I did not want him to be alone at the end of his life. In the last few days he lost an enormous amount of weight and was vomiting frequently among other concerning things. The mass on his leg came back very quickly and much larger. I knew it was time and this morning Dr. Garcia confirmed that for me and we said “until we meet again”. I am so grateful for the time we had together. I am so glad he got to go on some road trips with us. I am happy he got to know the joys of Sonic and Chick Fil A. I am so thankful for the sweet cuddles and that he got to be a part of the group. I grew to love him deeply in the short amount of time he was here. I am so glad I was the one who was called when his family discarded him but I won’t lie. This hurts deeply. I have thought a lot lately about quitting. We have lost donors and every week it’s a struggle to cover everything but then I look at this sweet boy and how precious he was and I think to myself how tragic it would be if he had not had anyone who cared in the end and I know I have to continue helping where I can. I am so glad I got to love you Audi and thank you for the gift of getting to share life with this precious boy for even a short time. I love you my sweet boy. You totally stole my heart. Until we meet again my angel.
