In Part 1, we broke down some foundational terms—s*x assigned at birth, gender identity, gender expression, and s*xual orientation—because understanding the basics helps us talk about everyone more accurately and respectfully.

For Part 2, we're building on that by looking at some of the myths and misconceptions that often come up once those terms enter the chat. Many of these misunderstandings don’t come from bad intentions—they come from incomplete information, outdated ideas, or not having had the chance to hear directly from LGBTQIA+ people. This takes a closer look at a few of those common assumptions and what we know from history, lived experiences, and research.
