What do you do if you are a structural engineer and you are bored the day after Christmas? Build LEGO bridges (from your kid's Christmas gift) and test them.
This one supported 9.10 pounds loaded in the center and 18.0 pounds with loads at approximately 2/3 of the span.
The key lies in the shape of the bridge (arch) and the lateral resistance of the supports
