With the special Junior pheasant season starting Oct. 10th and running to the 17th some state game lands are now full of birds. Great time to get the dogs tuned up for the opening of grouse season! General pheasant starts Oct. 24th!

The PA Game Commission is doing a phenomenal job in habitat creation and restoration. The Pheasants now being reared for wild stocking are as good as they get! These birds can fly and are very wary. Check the October issue of "Game News" for excellent info on how they're doing it.

For only $20.75 you can hunt all upland birds, turkey and a whitetail buck on 1.5 million acres of game land purchased just for hunters, hikers and nature watchers. I believe they deserve a raise!

Some lands are even set up with child plastic swimming holes through out used to water and refresh your dog. Now that's livin'!!

Craig Bean of Waterford, PA purchased one of our puppies in '13. Seems he had a pretty good time with "Chili" last year. His dog reminds me of Dylan and how he enjoyed having his picture taken with game. Neat how he sits there perfectly.

Thought you might enjoy this 1965 cover print from a pamphlet I received from the Pennsylvania Game Commission when I was a young boy. No one in my family hunted woodcock at that time. I saw my first one behind our camp in Clearfield county and was so impressed I wrote the agency for information. They were so kind to send a whole load of it and after all these years I still have it. The original art is by legendary PA artist, Ned Smith. Good stuff!
