☀️ Happy First Day of Summer ☀️

Summer has officially arrived, and here in New England, that can mean anything from cooler coastal days to intense heat waves and everything in between. As temperatures rise across the South Shore, Cape Cod, and surrounding areas, it’s important to help keep your pets safe and comfortable in the heat.

A few quick summer safety reminders for pet owners:
🐾 Never leave pets unattended in a parked car
🐾 Check pavement temperatures before walks to protect sensitive paws
🐾 Always provide access to fresh water and shade
🐾 Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day
🐾 Watch for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse

If you ever have concerns that your pet may be experiencing heat-related illness, don’t hesitate to seek veterinary care, whether that means reaching out to your primary care veterinarian or giving us a call or coming to see us.

And remember — CCVS–Buzzards Bay is open for emergencies 24/7. We’re here when you need us. CCVS–Dennis is also open Mondays and Tuesdays from 7 a.m.–4 p.m. for emergency receiving at this time.
