Most trades businesses around here are paying SEO companies to chase Dallas before they've locked down their actual hometown. If you're in Caddo Mills, Plano, Rockwall, Greenville, Garland, Lewisville, etc... and you're not top 3 on Google Maps for your trade - you've got money sitting on the table in your own backyard.

π£ Local business owners, this one's worth two minutes. Google just made it possible to manage a big chunk of your Google Business Profile by chatting with its AI, Gemini.
Once you connect your profile, you can ask Gemini to:
- Update your hours and fill in gaps on your profile
- Draft replies to your newest reviews in your own voice
- Post seasonal updates to your profile
- Show how your profile is doing: search views, calls, and how many people asked for directions
π There's also a new "Business notebook" that nudges you about easy-to-miss stuff, like a customer question nobody answered or holiday hours you forgot to set.
Here's what you need to know:
1. It's rolling out worldwide this month, starting on the Gemini web app.
2. For now it only works if you manage ONE Google Business Profile.
β οΈ One honest word of caution from us: let Gemini draft it, but you read it before it goes live. A review reply still speaks for your business the second it's posted, so always give it a once-over. AI is great for saving time. It does not know your customers, your town, or your competition the way you do.
Why does this matter? It's a clear sign of where Google is headed. They want their AI helping you run every part of your presence on Google. If you work in local search, or you just run a business that lives or dies by Google, this is the trend to keep your eye on.
π Save this post and share it with another owner who'd want to see it. Follow us for the next update.

π± Your phone didn't get quieter because of "the algorithm." It got quieter because your customer stopped landing on a search page at all.
The question used to end on Google. Now it ends inside an AI answer - and there are two totally different ways that answer gets built, for two totally different customers. Build for one and you miss the other.
β‘ Customer #1: The Panic...
Their AC quits at 9pm in July. They're not researching anything. They just say, "who can fix my AC near me right now?" - and the assistant reads back ONE name. Not a list. A name.
You don't win that with a pretty homepage. You win it with a fully built Google Business Profile, a steady stream of fresh reviews, and a name, address and phone that match everywhere. On your site, you give the assistant answers it can say in one breath - real questions as headings, short replies, answer first.
π οΈ Customer #2: The Planner...
Nobody's panicking. They're about to spend real money - full system swap, re-roof, panel upgrade - so they ask ChatGPT to "compare the best companies around here." No single name comes back. The AI builds a shortlist from every mention of you it can find.
The job here isn't to BE the answer. It's to be baked into it. Which means your name has to line up off your site too - reviews, directories, listings, all saying the same thing.
π° Here's the part that pays the bills:
The panic customer is your emergency ticket. The planner is your $15,000 install. Two different doors - and most contractors haven't built either one.
They've got a 2019 brochure site and a quiet phone, blaming software for a problem that's actually structural.
You don't pick a door. You build both - on purpose - knowing exactly which one brings in which kind of job.
β
Pull that off and folks will think you've got some secret. You don't. You just figured out how the question gets answered now β and got there first.
π If your phone's been quieter than it used to be, that's worth a conversation.

π¨ Google just dropped the biggest Search update in 25 years.
Two days ago at Google I/O 2026, they announced the Intelligent Search Box - and if you run a trades or home service business, you need to pay attention.
Here's what's actually changing π
π Folks can ask Google long, conversational questions instead of typing keywords
π§ It remembers what you asked before, so follow-ups work like a real conversation
πΈ It reads text, images, files, videos - even tabs you have open in Chrome
π€ New "information agents" will watch the web 24/7 and notify users when something they care about pops up
π And the big one for local businesses - Google can now CALL businesses on a customer's behalf, compare them, and book the appointment. Confirmed for home repair, beauty, and pet care.
Read that twice.
A homeowner in Dallas says "find me a plumber." Google calls three plumbers itself, asks about availability and pricing, picks one, and books the job. The customer never picks up a phone.
If your business isn't showing up in Google's AI results - and most trades businesses around here aren't - you're not gonna be one of the three Google calls.
This is exactly what GBP optimization and AI search prep/optimization is for. Get your Google Business Profile clean and your business positioned in AI results before this rolls wide.
