🐴 The Pick Crew – Wednesday Edition! 🧹✨
Every great rider starts on the ground. Today, our Pick Crew took over grooming My Little Pony and Freddy, learning that horsemanship is about so much more than riding.
Every brush stroke, every hoof picked, and every moment spent caring for a horse builds confidence, responsibility, patience, and trust. These are the little things that create great horsemen and horsewomen.
At RJN Stables, we believe the bond with a horse begins before you ever put your foot in the stirrup. ❤️🐎

Summer at the barn is about so much more than learning to ride.

It’s about building confidence one ride at a time. It’s about friendships that grow between lessons, teamwork that happens without anyone asking, and celebrating every little victory together.

Watching these two brothers finish their ride with a high-five says it all. The smiles, the laughter, the encouragement, and the memories they’re making will last far beyond the summer.

Horses have a way of bringing out the best in us. They teach patience, responsibility, resilience, kindness, and trust—not just with the horse, but with each other.

This is what summer at RJN Stables is all about. Kids cheering each other on, facing challenges with courage, making lifelong friends, and leaving each day a little more confident than when they arrived.

The riding is just the beginning. ❤️🐴☀️

☀️ Day 8 | Week 2 of 100 Days of Summer Camp 🐴✨

Today was all about one of the most important parts of being an equestrian… GROOMING.

Most people think horseback riding is all about jumping fences or galloping across a field. The truth is, those are the rewards that come after the hard work. Grooming is where the real partnership begins.

Every brush stroke tells you something about your horse.

You learn where they’re sore, where they love to be scratched, if they have a cut, a swollen leg, a loose shoe, or a tiny problem before it turns into a big one. You check their eyes, ears, nose, legs, and hooves. You build trust. You learn patience. You learn responsibility.

A clean horse is also a happier, healthier horse. Grooming removes dirt and sweat, improves circulation, helps prevent skin problems, and keeps their coat healthy and shiny. Cleaning their hooves every day can help prevent injuries, bruising, and infections. It also gives you a chance to notice if something doesn’t feel right.

But beyond all of that…

Grooming teaches kids that horses aren’t machines. They aren’t something you simply climb on and ride. They are living, breathing partners that deserve love, care, and respect every single day.

That’s exactly what we’re teaching at summer camp.

Before anyone gets in the saddle, they learn how to care for the horse standing in front of them. They earn that ride through kindness, responsibility, and hard work.

Watching these kids slow down, connect with their horses, laugh while brushing, and take pride in making their horse look and feel their best has been one of my favorite parts of camp.

These are the lessons they’ll remember long after summer ends.

Here’s to another amazing day of learning, growing, getting a little dusty, and falling even more in love with these incredible animals.

Week 2… let’s keep making memories. ❤️🐴☀️
