Here is a video of Bruce from the Spring during breeding season. We decided kinda last min to put our chin ball marker on Bruce (who is our clean up bull after our breeding season is finished)... we wanted to see who came into heat again... but he found a way to take it off in a day. So we will find out in a week when we preg test, who he bred.

It's that time of year... sending Bruce the Bull in with our Mama Herd. We put the chin ball marking halter on him, it marks the cows back with paint and we can keep track of who is bred. Frank has tamed Bruce fairly well... but he still isn't used to the halter. Update: in answer to comments & questions, Most of the herd "should" be bred, Bruce is one of our Top Bull calves from last year that we use as a "clean up" bull. Our cows are Registered Angus, and to register them, we have to know who the mom and dad are of each calf. So we keep records and pedigrees, we can also tell a little when we have a vet preg check them and by the calves birthdates. We breed our cows to some of the top Angus sires around the west, as 80-90% of our bulls are sold as Sire bulls to other ranchers. The chin ball marker let's us know which cows Bruce breeds... but he already found a way to take off the halter... and they are out to pasture, so now we will go by birthdates next spring.

Walking through the cows and calves today, the calves are growing out so well! Excited for the Sire Bulls we will have available in the spring! We will be weaning these calves the end of Sep.
