This is what it’s about. Love seeing the community come together and bring awareness to real resources. This is why Gordon County stands out.
GORDON COUNTY GOVERNMENT TO HOLD SERVICE SPOTLIGHT COMMUNITY EVENT NEXT WEDNESDAY: Gordon County Government invites residents to attend “Service Spotlight,” a free community event on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at City Park (formerly BB&T Park) located at 308 N Wall Street.
“Service Spotlight” expands on the Gordon County Tax Assessors “Hotdogs & Homesteads” event last year. This year’s event includes a wide range of local government departments and nonprofit organizations, all coming together in one place to connect with the community.
By showcasing the many services available to Gordon County residents, we are hoping to increase our outreach with the community and raise awareness of the resources, programs, and assistance available to them locally. Additionally, April 1st marks the final day for residents to file for homestead exemptions, and staff will be available onsite to assist with questions and applications.
Those who attend will have the opportunity to meet representatives, ask questions, and learn more about services from local agencies including the Calhoun Police Department, Calhoun-Gordon Library, Voluntary Action Center, AdventHealth EMS, Gordon County Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Gordon County, Recovery Gordon, Gordon County Child Advocacy Center & Sexual Assault Center, Family Resource Center of Gordon County, and various County departments.
This family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity for residents to engage directly with the people and organizations who serve the community every day.

NWGA Independent Shared Living update:
We’ve been up and running here in Calhoun and have already been able to help several individuals get into stable housing. Some have transitioned on to their next step, and overall we’re seeing that this setup is truly helping people who just need that extra push or structure.
Right now, we currently have residents in the home and things are going well. It’s been beneficial for them, and that’s the goal—providing a clean, stable, home-like environment for people trying to get on their feet.
We do still have private rooms available and are looking to continue growing, because the need for this in our community is real.
This isn’t something to look down on—this is for people who just need a stepping stone, a reset, or a structured place to move forward.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this, you can check out more details and fill out the intake form at:

You can also reach out directly if needed.

Good to be out with the crew helping the community. Respect to everyone involved.
❤️ Community Kindness in Action ❤️
We are incredibly grateful to share that Crystal Caverns generously donated an entire pallet of water to support our community! As if that wasn’t amazing enough, another anonymous donor stepped forward and covered the cost of an additional pallet.
Because of these acts of kindness, we’re able to better serve our clients and ensure more families have access to essential resources. This is what community is all about: neighbors helping neighbors and coming together to make a difference.
To both of these amazing donors, thank you for your generosity, your compassion, and your heart for giving. You are truly making an impact! 💧💞

At NWGA Independent Shared Living, our goal is to remove as many barriers to housing as possible for people who are working to get back on their feet.
We currently have a community sponsor who has offered to cover someone’s first week in the home if that individual is truly in need and committed to stabilizing their situation.
Normally, the move-in fee is $100 (which covers the entire first week), and then it is $200 per week after that. The home is fully furnished and includes utilities, Wi-Fi, washer/dryer access, and shared common areas.
If you or someone you know needs stable housing, you can learn more or complete the intake form at:
www.nwgaisl.com
We are also open to partnering with local churches, ministries, and community organizations that may want to sponsor someone’s first week to help them get started in stable housing.
