We are proud to announce Lu Tana Griffin as the new Assistant Principal of Hawthorn Elementary for the upcoming school year!

Mrs. Griffin is a familiar face within the district, having served as Assistant Principal at Dogwood Elementary for the past five years. Throughout her tenure, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to student achievement, staff support, and fostering positive relationships with families and the school community.
Mrs. Griffin earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Central Missouri, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Southwest Baptist University, and a Specialist Degree in Administration from William Woods University.

Lu Tana is married to her husband, Jeffrey, who also works for the Camdenton R-III School District. When they are not at school, the Griffin family enjoys traveling and hunting together and can often be found cheering on their younger children at various extracurricular activities.

As she prepares for this transition, Mrs. Griffin shared, “Dogwood Elementary will always hold a special place in my heart. Over the past five years, I have been fortunate to work alongside an amazing staff and build meaningful relationships with students and families. Leaving Dogwood is bittersweet, but I am excited for the opportunity to serve Hawthorn Elementary in this capacity. I look forward to continuing to grow as a leader and am especially excited to be joining a school where I will see many familiar faces. I can't wait to build new relationships, support students and staff, and become part of the Hawthorn family.”

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Griffin on her new role!

To our incredible Laker family, thank you for showing up, sharing your voice, and helping us shape the future of our school identity. This process is all about who we are, and we knew from the start that our students, staff, and community members needed to be the ones driving it.

When it came to choosing our new C lettermark and Laker wordmark, your feedback was loud and clear. Over 60% of you chose to stand with tradition, selecting the timeless block C and the classic block font for the Lakers. There is so much pride in our Purple and Gold, and your input ensures that our rich history remains at the heart of everything we do.

Our branding committee met for the final time yesterday to iron out the specific details that will make up our official district branding guide. We are on track and excited to present the final guide at the July Board of Education meeting.

We want to emphasize that this branding refresh is a zero-cost initiative for our district. No funds are being spent to prematurely replace items. Instead, the new branding will only be applied to equipment, uniforms, and materials as they reach the end of their natural life cycle and require normal replacement.

Thank you again for your passion and commitment to our schools. We cannot wait to fully roll out this updated look as ONE Laker community, unified by our traditions and moving together in the same direction!

The Camdenton R-III School District is pleased to announce the selection of Jamin English as the district’s new Director of Transportation. English is a familiar face within the Laker community, having spent several years in the district, including the past year serving as the assistant principal at Hawthorn Elementary.

English brings a diverse background in school administration and student support to his new role. Prior to his leadership position at Hawthorn Elementary, he served the district as a school counselor, establishing a strong track record of dedication, safety, and student-centered leadership. This unique blend of administrative experience and student advocacy positions him well to lead the district's daily transportation operations.

"I am truly honored to serve the Camdenton School District in this new role as Director of Transportation," said English. "Transitioning from assistant principal and former counselor, I bring with me a deep commitment to our students and a passion for ensuring their safety and well-being each and every day. Transportation plays a vital role in the educational experience, and I am excited to support a system that helps our students arrive ready to learn and return home safely. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff and community as we continue to put students first in everything we do."

Join us in congratulating Mr. English on his new role!
