24. Keep those categories BROAD. We are less likely to stick with an over-complicated system but it’s also our tendency to create too many categories. 😂 Keep it nice and simple.
25. Have a Document hotspot. A red transparent file folder, somewhere you will SEE it. This will hold anything that needs attn within 24 hours. Try to keep it to no more than 5, whether it be an overdue bill, a phone message that needs returning, a task for work, etc.
26. You can actually add yourself to the “ DO NOT SEND” list to cut back on junk mail! Hooray! Go to DMAchoice.org for more information.
27. Processing the mail everyday keeps it from becoming overwhelming. Stack the habit on top of something else that you for sure do every day and you’ll keep up! But don’t beat yourself up if it piles up again. Just make quick decisions and move on. We’ve got this!

20. We love to have several projects going at once but quickly find ourselves in overwhelm which leads to procrastination and paralysis! Tie up all the loose ends on one project before beginning another. It IS possible! 😂
21. Use sticky notes to easily get you back on task. If you must answer a call or, in my case, your kids need something that pulls you away from your project, grab a sticky note and write yourself a note to remember where you were so you can easily dive right back in. Takes away the fear of being interrupted.
22. Make “habit stacking” a regular thing. Changing the clocks for daylight savings in the fall is also time to change the batteries in the smoke detector. Random associations work for our brains so get creative!
23. Put everything in zones. Gardening, painting, tools, sports equipment, etc. It can be just like a home-improvement store in there. If it seems too overwhelming a task, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Or even HIRE help if you’re able. We’ve got this!

Now take these suggestions with a grain of salt because it know there are some of us who love our variety! 😂 But if you just have a lot of clothing sitting around not EVER being worn, get it OUT of there!
18. There are some people who can get away with just a few staples and then change up the accessories and call it good! Judith Kolberg, in the article I’ve mentioned in previous posts, suggests a spring/summer wardrobe centered around two colors plus white. Fall/winter, two other colors plus black. Again, grain of salt but the most important is to get the clothes OUT that you are not wearing!
19. If you have trouble making the decision of what to wear, make that decision ahead of time to simplify. Pre-assemble those outfits on the hanger or in the drawer. So much easier! This is the best way to pack for a trip rather than WAY overpacking which I was prone to do.
These steps are a struggle for me, I’ve got a major “floordrobe” happening right now! 🤣
I need to go through a big purge! We’ve got this!
