Hello, it’s been a while since I posted anything about my Pancreatic Cancer many because leading up to my surgery I had no words no emotions no thoughts I wanted or could express, I had peace a peace supplied by my Heavenly Father a peace thru and from a lot of prayers.
As many of you know and many have been praying for me about my Pancreatic Cancer, thank you, I can’t say enough thank you’s. I came home yesterday 7 days out from major surgery a surgery called a Whipple, I won’t go into all the details but I’m re-plumbed. This is a surgery that only about 20% of Pancreatic Cancer patients qualify for and I am beyond grateful to God for allowing me to be in the 20%, so many don’t. I’m not out of the storm yet far from it but God is guiding me thru this storm with the help of my incredible wife Bonnie who is my rock my world, my son and daughter Katelyn and Andrew my other worlds and rocks. I could not ask for a better family of support many who came into town to support me and Bonnie during surgery and after. To many names to mention all whom I love deeply and will never be able to thank enough. My daughter Katelyn got married 3 weeks ago “incredibly day”which was very emotional because it’s my one and only daughter who I love to the moon and back and because of my Cancer and its severity. We had many loving, caring prayer worrier family members and extended dear friends come into town for the wedding, amazing time of celebration, love, prayer and fellowship all very encouraging to my daughter her new husband and me.
The unknown of coming home was emotional and scary, leaving the security of the hospital was frightening. I had the most incredible caring staff of Doctors and Nurses at Henry Ford Detroit, Dr. Kwon my Surgeon was amazing and his surgical staff can’t say enough about them. Now I’m home and the terror of this cancer has returned because of the unknown not because of lack of faith, not from the lack of support but from the word Pancreatic Cancer and the terror it has ravaged on people in the past and present, many people have not been and are not as fortunate as me and I’m humbled by that, not sure what God has in store for me thru this journey but I’m open to his leading. I know I’m long winded and rambling but stick with me.
Today I got an incredible reminder from a new friend in the form of a card. When I got the card of course I looked at the back to see if it was a hallmark “ha ha”, I did flip it over and the first thing that caught my eye was a hand written note “God would never give you a mountain that he knew you could not move “ WOW. And then inside was written the most encouraging words which instead of writing out I photographed. These words of encouragement are amazing not just for my situation but all challenges we face in life, thank you Jenna.
In closing yes the end, thank you to all our prayer warriors, you are all an encouragement to me and my family. Love you all.
