Here’s a case of a long standing toe quarter leverage crack on a cherished trail horse. These are often like idebergs- the reason often lies beneath the surface. Upon thorough debridement of affected hoof wall the area was fortified with a composite hoof material as to ensure many painless miles on the trail this summer. 🐎

This mare was seen for a dental with unknown history.

On exam Dr. Stalnaker noticed her first incisor was fractured and diseased. Her dental was performed as normal and no other diseased teeth were noted.

The next week she was brought into the hospital where she was sedated, a radiograph was taken to ensure all other incisors were healthy, the mental nerve was blocked, additional block was applied locally, and the tooth was extracted in three pieces.

She was rechecked two weeks later to ensure the extraction site was healing normally!
