Got bored during our Ohio winter!
‘1967 13 1/2’ Sea Nymph.
Had to raise the transom from 15” to 20” to host the motor of choice, w/trim.
168 lb hull weight.
Should rip!
In process..

A personal project.
Always wanted a 25 foot checkmate Convincor with twin outboards.
They offered them back in the day but the motors mounted on the transom and they had a splash well which eliminated the sun lounge that the I/O boats had.
My plan all along had always been to buy a Convincor with a blown up I/O so it’s cheap, then off load the motor and drive and put that money in the kitty to convert it to outboard.
About 30% through the process.
Have added transom knees and substantial reinforcement to inside of transom to handle the huge increase in load to the top of the transom from outboards.
Another negative to this conversion is the original 67 gallon gas tank is way too small to feed two big outboards.
Had a new 95 gallon tank built to address this issue.
The next major project is reconfiguring the cabin bulkhead and cabin door.
We weekend on our cuddy cabins so easy entrance to the cabin is paramount.
The OEM configuration had a small opening forcing you to crawl in on your hands and knees.
Duh.
This is why all the cuddy cabins you see for sale advertise the cabin was never used. What a stupid design error huh?
Evidence of non boat owning, bean counters designing boats.
I will remove entire helm along with bulkheads which are already out and reconfigure that entirely to allow addition of an entrance hatch that you open as well as doors to aid cabin entry.
Will be a huge project but in my mind will make the boat the way it should’ve been 30 years ago.
Another HUGE bonus to this conversion is bilge under the sun lounge where the car motor used to be will become a HUGE storage compartment.
We have done much traveling, exploring, vacationing by cuddy cabin from 19 to 24 feet in length and always take two fold up bicycles, beach chairs, grill for the beach, coolers, and a dinghy to get from anchor to shore and back to save dockage. Huge bang for the buck.
Love the classic offshore lines!
