This is what 9,355 boxes of crayons/markers looks like!! Two pickup trucks full.
THANK YOU to everyone that donated! And THANK YOU to the amazing employees at Blank Children's Hospital who unloaded them all for us at the dock this morning.
We are so proud of our last collection of crayons as this will keep the hospital supplied for a couple of years. WE DID GOOD - and by WE, I mean ALL OF YOU!!!!
Special thank you to, Laurie Pruitt, who has been our angel crayon for a few years. She labels them all, counts them all, and boxes them all up so pretty! What a big job and it has been so very appreciated!

Thank you to Brian and Kelli Stoaks and all the generous people that sent crayons to the post office box. There wasn’t any names on them so I can’t personally thank you but WOW!! I was so surprised when I went to check the mail and they had a whole cart full of packages of crayons for us! We will get to 10,000! We will get to 10,000!!

Update on the Crayon Raffle. So, it doesn't look like we have collected 10,000 crayons/markers . . . YET!! I would like to see if maybe we could get a few more donations so am asking for your help!
First, I want to congratulate, Tonya Snider, on winning the cooler and all the goodies inside on Sunday. She was very excited to receive her prize this evening!
Second, I want to tell you about the origin of the crayon raffle and how it came to be. Camryn Storbeck was a little tiny girl when we first met her. Her parents, Jen and Paul, also had twins a little younger than Camryn. When visiting with Jen one day, she was getting in her purse for something and pulled out a ziploc baggie full of crayons. She said she carried those with her because when they went to all of Camryn's appointments, the doctor's office and hospital would give all three children a box of crayons to keep them occupied while waiting. Since the crayons can't be re-used because of germs, Jen felt bad taking new crayons each time so she carried a bag of used crayons around with her. Well, we knew that she had so much more to worry about than that and told her we would get the hospital crayons! That was the start of the Crayon Raffle.
The photo with Camryn's dad and brother from Sunday's ride shows a pair of little pink sneakers on the seat of Camryn's dads bike and photo of Camryn. There is a very unique non-profit called Peach's Neet Feet that sends custom, hand-painted sneakers to sick children. The pink sneakers for Camryn arrived the week after Camryn passed away.
So, I think we can do better and gather more crayons/markers in memory of sweet Camryn! You can order them online and have them shipped to our PO Box 185, Carlisle, IA 50047 or drop them off with any of the Angels for Sam board members. We could also possibly arrange a pick up or alternate drop off site if you private message us.
Please share this post with your friends, family and co-workers and let's get to the 10,000 mark! Thank you so very much!
The donations keep coming! Last night we received a check for $500 from Chris and Jennifer Schwienebart for Angels for Sam. Many know these two from the memorial ride, Sydney's Wish, that they put on in memory of Chris' daughter, Sydney. Their ride was always amazing and well run and always had a huge turnout. We are truly honored that they continue to pay forward to help others and chose Angels for Sam for this donation.
