A new GenMark customer study found that patients co-infected with influenza B and another respiratory pathogen were more likely to have severe disease. Rhinovirus/enterovirus, parainfluenza virus and adenovirus were the most frequent co-infections. Using a multiplex test, like the ePlex RP2 Panel, to detect the presence of more than one pathogen can help guide patient care decisions and identify which patients may be at higher risk for complications.
