He will provide you with the knowledge about the echocardiographic diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) in cats (ie, “HCM phenotype”). Important two dimensional echocardiographic measurements including wall thickness, left atrial size and function will be reviewed in detail. Doppler echocardiographic assessment will be briefly reviewed. Students will examine the nuances and challenges of measurements of left (and right) ventricular wall thickness in cats. Judging normal vs abnormal and common mistakes of wall thickness measurements will be presented. The echocardiographic vs clinical diagnosis of HCM will be discussed.
