The Carnegie Shul holds Torah study sessions every Tuesday evening at 7:00via Zoom. These sessions are led by Dr. Larry Block, who has been leading us in Torah study for more than 40 years. The sessions start with an overview of the weekly parashah (the section of the Torah that we read in shul on the upcoming Shabbat). The group then delves into discussion on various paragraphs within the parashah and may migrate into tangential topics. The sessions typically last one hour.

For those interested in Jewish texts and their impact on Jewish life today, this is an excellent study group. Even if you have limited knowledge of the Hebrew Bible, itTalmud, Mishnah, etc, this is an easily accessible method of entering into study. Study of Torah is foundational for Jews. The Torah provides guidance on practical subjects like treatment of the poor, workers’ rights, crime and punishment, etc. It provides insight into our spiritual practices of keeping the Sabbath, community service, prayer and repentance, etc. And it reminds us always of our history in the land of Israel over these past 3500 years. We hope that you will join us.
