Q: "How do I keep my voice healthy during a show run?"
This is one of the questions we hear most often. While there isn't a magic cure-all (trust us, we'd all own stock in it), our teachers have a few tried-and-true favorites.
🍯 Tiffany says:
As someone who battles allergies, Tiffany avoids NSAIDs whenever possible since they can contribute to vocal dryness. Her go-to routine includes frequent saline spray, washing away allergens after being outside, and using a humidifier or v***rizer when the air gets dry. Her non-negotiable? Hydration. And not just water. Electrolytes deserve a standing ovation, too.
🍋 Caitlin says:
Hydration and electrolytes are the real headliners. Caitlin also loves tea with local honey and lemon, keeps cranberry juice and pineapple juice on hand, and swears by a steamy shower with eucalyptus when she's feeling congested. And yes... v***r rub on your feet before bed is still on the list. It sounds like an old wives' tale until it actually works.
The biggest takeaway? Every voice is different. What works wonders for one singer may not help another. Pay attention to what your voice responds to, read the ingredients on anything you take, and build a routine that keeps your instrument performing at its best.
