If you follow this page, you know I am a history buff, so I thought I would share a little bit of history with you.

We all know that on July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress voted to approve the Declaration of Independence inside the Pennsylvania State House (now Independence Hall).

Did you know that four days later, on July 8, 1776, the citizens of Philadelphia were summoned to the State House Yard by the bells of the city?

At noon, on July 8 of 1776, Colonel John Nixon publicly read the Declaration of Independence for the first time.

Today marks the anniversary of the first public reading of our Declaration of Independence!

“We are now 9 days past when the PA budget was due. That to most people may not seem like a lot but to school districts this is major.

In Carlynton what this means if the budget doesn’t get passed this month is we will miss the first round of state funding. In July we get just over $200,000 in funding for special education services.

Now some will say well you will eventually get it back and yes this is true but we have to make that difference up until we do. Last year some smaller districts had to take loans out to cover those missed payment until the came in. That set some districts back financially becuse for some it will take 6 plus years to recover.

Please I urge you to call your state senator and state representative and tell them to get back to work and pass a budget. With each month that passes more and more funding is lost.
