Ahead of snow expected across PA starting Saturday night, PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike plan to implement vehicle restrictions on Interstates and the PA Turnpike beginning at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 22.

With an improved forecast for the next 24 hours, EMA staff have secured the Emergency Operations Center for the night. We will continue to monitor conditions through a virtual EOC in coordination with Allegheny County Emergency Services

An Extreme Cold Watch has been issued for Allegheny County from 7 PM Monday to 1 PM Tuesday.
Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero are possible, increasing the risk of cold-related illness such as hypothermia and frostbite.
To prepare:
• Limit time outdoors
• Dress in warm layers and cover exposed skin
• Check on vulnerable individuals and pets
• Bring pets indoors
• Insulate pipes and keep faucets on a constant drip to prevent freezing

The library is available to be used as a warming shelter if needed. Their hours are as follows:
Monday through Thursday 10am-8pm, Friday 12-5pm and Saturday 10am-5pm.
The EMA team will be continuously evaluating the need for additional resources and off hours shelter locations.
