This is not a post that either of us want to make, but it's one we can no longer avoid.
After over 20 years and hundreds of animals later, we have decided to close up HLHR for good.
We let the state and county licenses lapse this month, on purpose. We’ve either cancelled or are waiting on confirmation of cancellation of all our online donation platforms, as well as our Petfinder.com account.
We're sure this is not a surprise, but it’s still been sad. Those of you who have been consistent followers know that, while our spirits are still strong, our bodies are not. You know what both of us have endured and will continue to endure as a result of the effects of chronic illnesses.
Both of us have felt like we are mourning the loss of a loved one and a part of ourselves. It's a loss that's hard to explain but felt deep within us both.
After this post runs about a week, the page will deactivate and exist as an archive.
We surely had a good run and feel like we made a huge difference in animal welfare. And, we are so, so thankful for all of you who have supported us along the way.

While Misty and I have no new fosters right now, we both have four total long-term fosters who depend on your support.
