Who wants to Guess my Girl's breed(s)!?

This girl is the reason I became active in DFW rescue!

She's been with me for 8 years, and I decided, for sh*ts and giggles, I'd check on my curiosity with Embark Vet 🧐

I'm 18.4% shocked, 33% not surprised. What I AM surprised about is how high the percentage of her PERSONALITY actually was relevant. 🤣

Katie is 65lbs. She has unattached rear dewclaws on both legs. She has a long curved tail and loves to spin, growl and nip at my feet when she gets riled up in play. 😆 She gets along with most dogs, better with smaller or younger dogs.... Marleigh was under a year old when I got her and she's always been great with her... and she doesn't mind the cats either.

While the rest of the world is blissfully daydreaming about sprinkles, glaze, and maple bars, the rescue world knows a whole different kind of "donut." Yes, we’re talking about the plush, oversized, mildly humiliating post-op Cone of Shame.

Both of these precious girls have been working hard to get healthy, and their appointments are finally locked in for June 17th and June 24th but to get them across the finish line, we need a little help from our amazing friends and community.

Turns out, responsible pet ownership and top-tier vet care cost a bit more than a dozen glazed. The cost of pre-op bloodwork, anesthesia, surgery, and meds add up fast. Spaying ensures Peach and Reina live long, healthy lives free of reproductive cancers and infections (and keeps them from making any accidental mini-donuts of their own!).

Every dollar helps us cover their veterinary bills:

**and I know people are going to ask, so I'll answer here;
The surgeon Peach's vet uses for orthopedic is "taking a break" - we've been told amputation would likely be the best option, but since Peach USES that leg often, we are sending her xrays off for additional opinions for options that can SAVE her leg - we wanted to do both surgeries together, but we do not want to wait on her spay any longer.

A temporary home can make a lifelong difference 🐾

June is National Foster a Pet Month, a time to raise awareness about the role foster families play in helping animals. Foster homes provide pets with food, care, socialization, and a safe place to stay while they wait for permanent families.

Animal welfare groups say fostering can help reduce overcrowding in shelters, improve animals' well-being, and increase their chances of adoption. Some foster placements last weeks or months, while others can be as short as a few days.
