OT Spotlight! ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

This summer, Mrs. Sara is creating weekly tactile and visual sensory bins for students to work with during sessions. This encourages creative play with multi sensory materials and allows for a contained environment to explore different textures and patterns! Last week, our sensory bins were filled with a cornstarch and colored water cups. This week, we squished into gelatin and sorted out objects!

Can’t wait to see what next week’s sensory bin is!

Occupational therapy in schools is about much more than handwriting. It helps students develop the sensory, motor, and functional skills they need to participate more confidently throughout the school day.

At The Gateway School, occupational therapy supports students with sensory regulation, fine motor development, daily living skills, and greater independence. These strategies are integrated into classroom routines so students can use them where they matter most.

We are almost ready to welcome everyone back for our Extended School Year on Monday! Before we do, let’s look back at some of Room 110’s end-of-year activities! They had an indoor picnic 🧺 and participated in a classic Minute To Win It cookie 🍪 challenge! They also celebrated with a hot dog 🌭 party, practice their cooking skills in the ADL room and doing crafts to decorate the classroom! And of course, our boys group with Ms. Shanice got their competitive side working playing Jenga!

We cannot wait to see everyone back, but until then, enjoy America’s 250th anniversary celebration of independence, Happy 4th of July! 🎆🇺🇸

Summer is finally here! 😎 We hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacation relaxing at home or wherever you may be traveling. Let’s look back at some of our end of the year festivities at the Gateway School, first up— FIELD DAY!

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to get outside and get our bodies moving! 🌤️The weather was beautiful and ideal for putting our competitive skills to the test for a staff vs. students tug-of-war contest to kick off the day. Students won! (But I hear the staff are already training for a comeback win next year) We had some awesome stations organized by our specials and related services team! With a sensory corner in the shade ☁️, an ice cream 🍦 truck to cool us down, and a water balloon toss to finish the day’s events, our Gators had an exciting day of fun. ❤️

Keep enjoying your time off and stay tuned to see more of our end of the year activities! 🐊

The Gateway School is proud to present: The Spring 2026 Gateway Talent Show!! 🎶🎵We are incredibly proud of our students for all their hard work and dedication in music class to prepare for the show. From our 🎤singers to our 🎸guitarists to our 🎹pianists to our instrumentalists🥁to our 💃🕺dancers, every student got to share their part of our talent and pride for our school.

None of this would be possible without our phenomenal music teacher and talent show director, Mr. Joe Ciappina! Every day, Mr. Joe works to teach new music concepts and appreciation for the arts. We also want to recognize another foundation of our music program, Mr. Liam! Mr. Joe surprised us all with a video from our former music teacher, Mr. Liam, to start our show off strong!

Thank you to Mr. Arnold for helping decorate for the talent show, to Mr. Camp for running our sound system, our related service team for being our stage managers, and an amazing team of staff who baked treats and supported our students in the audience (and even on stage)! Thank you to our parents and community members for being in the audience and supporting our program. We could not do this without everyone involved!

The first video featured is our finale: “Three Little Birds” performed by all students, showing us that everything is going to be alright!

Enjoy the show! 🎵🎶
