US FDA flags probable cancer-causing impurity in common heartburn drugs (CORRECTED) 09/17/2019

Many people don't think twice about the safety of OTC drugs. NDMA is toxic to the liver and likely carcinogenic. It's not uncommon for doctors to recommend Zantac to babies with reflux. If you are using for OTC medications for reflux or any disorder, consider that addressing the underlying triggers is a more sound approach as well as stocking a few safe and effective natural therapies.

Why a low-gluten diet may benefit everyone 12/05/2018

It's always nice to see studies which confirm what we see clinically. In this case, cutting back on gluten significantly would be a wise choice for all of us. Almond and coconut flours are better choices.

Why a low-gluten diet may benefit everyone New research, published in the journal Nature Communications, finds that a diet low in gluten may also benefit the health of people who are not allergic to it. However, the benefits are not down to the mere absence of gluten. People living with celiac disease or gluten intolerance opt for a...

Cranberries -- They’re Not Just for Thanksgiving Anymore 11/16/2018

Cranberries are well recognized for their ability to inhibit bacterial adherence in the urinary tract thus preventing UTI's. However, many are not aware that they are also a wonderful source of antioxidants which strengthen the lining of blood vessels and discourage plaque formation by preventing LDL cholesterol from being oxidized. Try mixing them with oranges and sweet cherries to cut back on the added sugars we use to sweeten them.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Cranberries -- They’re Not Just for Thanksgiving Anymore The Philip E. Marucci Center for Blueberry and Cranberry Research and Extension, a substation of the Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
