Do your gutters get overwhelmed?

Checking your gutters in heavy rains can prevent foundation problems as well as basement and crawl space flooding. You may be able to check this from inside if you can see your downspouts by looking out a window or door. If not, it's a good idea to occasionally walk around outside during a heavy rain as long as you can do so safely. You may notice that gutters and/ or buried downspout drain pipes are overflowing. A good gutter company can often add a downspout or increase the size of the downspout or inlet which can double the capacity of your system. If the underground pipes are overflowing then it may be time to call Drain Designs for a drainage inspection.

In many drainage systems, water collected through a grate is first pooled into a collection box. Another pipe attached to the collection box to drain water from there. Collection boxes help prevent the permanent loss of valuables that fall through a grate.
