Planting Trees and Shrubs the Right Way with DBC Landscaping LLC! 🌳

Thinking of adding some greenery to your landscape? Fall is the perfect time to plant trees and shrubs! Here’s our step-by-step guide to ensure your plants thrive for years to come. Follow these essential steps for proper planting, as shown in the diagram below:
1. Dig the Right-Sized Hole: Make the hole 2-3 times as wide as the diameter of the root ball. This will give roots room to grow outwards.
2. Set the Rootball on Firm Ground: Place the root ball on top of undisturbed soil to prevent sinking over time.
3. Trim the Burlap and Twine: Cut away any burlap and twine from around the root ball to avoid restricting root growth.
4. Backfill Carefully: Refill the hole with soil, creating a stable base for the tree or shrub.
5. Maintain the Trunk Flare: The area where the roots meet the trunk should be above the soil line. This ensures proper root and trunk health.
6. Add Mulch: Spread 2-3 inches of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk to prevent rot.
7. Water Regularly: Deep watering helps establish roots, especially in the first year.

• Rocks are more expensive initially than mulch, although you can create or obtain either with a hefty investment of time.
