Our Story

It all began when I was not offered a match with my employer’s 401K plan. My wife and I knew we had to do something to build our retirement. We were unsure of where to go and what to do. So we went to “Google” for our options and visited with a local Advisor (now we know they are Fee-Based Advisors). We sat down and met with him to discuss our options. Beware of fee-based advisors because many will charge loads and receive commissions. You know it’s a load when there is a letter A, B, or C behind the mutual fund’s name. We found out later you don’t need to pay a load or a commission. Knowledge can set you free!

A couple days later I was talking with our neighbor and he mentioned something about these FREE financial class at the University of Northern Iowa. So we thought what is this going to hurt us, let’s check them out! Little did we know these classes would change our lives forever. That is where we met the instructor Mike Finley.

We continued going to class and reading books to educate ourselves on becoming our own “Financial Advisors.” With the knowledge we acquired and by taking ACTION we set ourselves up for success! Taking this step put us in control of our financial future.

We have always been a great team, being together since high school, we decided we were going to reach out to our Family and Friends to help them! As we worked through the process we learned how important it is and how little the average person knows about the world of money.
