The story behind "Walk In My Shoes."

I wrote this one because I've been on every side of a misunderstanding. The one being judged. The one doing the judging. The one too proud to ask why someone else was acting the way they were acting.

We hold love inside us. A lot of it. And we lock it up in disputes 'cause of pride — over things that wouldn't matter if we just stopped long enough to ask what the other person was carrying.

That's the song. That's the prayer underneath it.

HaShav.

It's Hebrew. It means "the one who has returned."

I picked it because I haven't fully returned. I'm somewhere on the road back — closer than I was, further than I want to be, still asking questions I was told never to ask.

I was born into a charismatic Pentecostal church. Forty years inside those walls. Drums and vocals on the worship team. Sound and media booth. Men's Ministry. Young Families with my ex-wife. I was on track for my minister's license. I wasn't just in it. It was who I was. I saw things — a leg grow. A mute woman speak. Seven fireballs in formation over the building. Real things. Then the ground I built my life on cracked open.

I left at 40. The questions never did.

HaShav is the music I'm making while I figure that out. Gospel, R&B, hip-hop, reggae — whatever fits the moment of the story. Raw testimony. No tidy bows.
