Mattie Jean Racing

Great first night at Lightning Speedway! She made it to Victory Lane. More photos and recap tomorrow. We're dirty, tired and headed to bed.

Saturday was Day 2 at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids Iowa and it was a great day. Mattie raced so hard and battled and didn't give up. She finished 4th in one feature and placed 3rd in the big race where she had qualified 2nd. Her and another racer battled between 3rd and 4th the whole race and she beat him out at the end. It was nice to see her on the podium and win some money. This week will be all about getting the flat kart ready for our first race next Friday night at Lightning Speedway in Fountain City.

Well, day one is in the books. All in all, it went well. Qualifying wasn't so good, but we made a few changes and went out for the feature. Did we win? No. Did we have fun? Yes. Was she faster than she's ever been at this track? Yes. Was she competitive? Yes. Did the changes work? Yes. Now, on to Saturday's races. We just need to keep getting better.

Well, finally, it's race weekend!!! Leaving tomorrow for Cedar Rapids Midwest Pavement Grand Nationals. Hawkeye Downs Speedway and Expo Center will race Friday night under the lights and in the big show on Saturday. So excited, we've been looking forward to this since last year.
