The less snuggly of the brothers, Marco, has decided the last week that he would really like to start trusting people enough to curl up with them, instead of just by their feet. He has such pretty eyes!
Seeing this kind of growth is the most rewarding part of the fostering journey, coming in only second to seeing a furbaby thrive in their forever home. 🥰
Both brothers are 9 months old now and still looking for their forever home. At this age, their personalities have blossomed, so you're no longer in the wildly unpredictable stage of kitten-hood.

This, and a crazy amount of fun, are what you can expect with Marco and Polo once they're comfortable. (Doesn't take long for either brother to warm up to humans). 🩵🩵🩵
In 2024, we and so many other rescues and shelters saw record low numbers of adoptions and record high animal abandonment.
When you adopt from us, we have taken substantial time and efforts to make sure the animal is healthy, fully vetted and that we have gotten to know their personalities well. Please consider taking a moment to share. We are really hoping we can find these brothers and the many other kitties (and one dog) their forever homes. Without finding them homes, we are unable to bring in more animals to help.

Marco is a very sweet boy. You likely see more of his brother on our page because Marco tends to be very shy where Polo more than makes up for it. When he cozies up to you like this, it's so stinking rewarding.
He loves his brother Polo so much and wants to be by his side. The pair are never far from one another and this guy needs his lifetime companion.

How we started
I started in rescue about 10 years ago when I rescued my dog Uno …. Her story showed me the saddest of sad conditions that animals are going through and how wrong it is. At this point I knew I had to be a voice for them so I started volunteering in the Cedar Falls, Waterloo areas and moved to CR about 4 years ago and started with rescues here. Recently was working with an organization and decided it was time to start my own as I had such an AMAZING group of people that had the same dream I did. So in July 2018 I decided to file for our 501c3 and get my license through the state to do this. Since we started we helped close to 75 animals and have partnered with amazing organizations. We all have a common goals to help all animals in need whether this is finding them a home to live, or helping the stray populations with T&R processes. We strive to help all animals, as well as educate anyone willing to listen. I speak to schools and classes about what we do as well as have events all over cedar Rapids with our amazing crew. Uno by Uno we will and are making a difference and couldn't do this without our community. We truly live in an area that wants to give and help. We live strictly off donations from others and our volunteers from their time, money, and emotions.
