Butler Aviators Bowling

Saturday, January 10th, saw the Aviator squads in action at the Viking Classic Tournament at Poelking South Lanes in Centerville. Sixteen girls teams and 21 boys teams rolled 3 team games and 6 Baker games, with champion determined by total pinfall.

Freshman Jacey Pinkston led the Lady Aviators to an 11th Place finish with her career high 168 game and a 466 three-game set (168, 138, 160). Junior Melayah Burton flew her wing with her own career high of 169 and a 455 set (169, 160, 126).

The boys finished in 15th Place and were led by Senior Michael McCann’s 554 set (188, 211, 155).

Both squads return to action this Wednesday at Greenville. The match will be hosted at Woodcrest Lanes in Union City at 4:30 pm.

The JV squads were in action Saturday at the Greenon Knights JV Invitational Tournament at Bowl Ten in Fairborn.

Our young Lady Aviators were the story of the day, finishing 3rd overall on paper, but host Greenon awarded a 2nd place finish to Butler due to some eligibility determinations on their end. It was Freshman Jacey Pinkston with the hot hand, booking a career high 297 set (153, 144), enough for 4th place and her first-ever All Tournament Team finish. First-year bowler Junior Morgan Howard posted her career high set as well with a 270 (158, 112).

On the boys side, the Aviators finished 8th out of 11 teams, led by Freshman Landen Whisman’s 357 set (187, 170), and Sophomore Connor Burkholder’s 348 set (182, 166).

The Aviators will now enjoy the holiday break and return to action against Stebbins at Beaver-Vu Bowl, January 5th, 4:00 pm.
