Our next Small Boats. Big Science event, entitled “Protecting Cape Cod's Working Waterfronts: A Path to Resiliency,” is Wednesday, July 15, 5:30 to 7 p.m. and brings together a panel of experts to discuss both the challenges and potential of our ports. Discussion will include steps that can be taken to make ports more climate resilient, infrastructure improvements to support the fishing industry, changes in fish species distribution, and building public support for working waterfront investments. Small Boats. Big Science. is a speaker series designed to increase scientific literacy in our community and create thoughtful discussion around complex environmental and fisheries-related topics. This year's series is supported by funding from the Massachusetts Environmental Trust and will be moderated by Amy Kolb Noyes of WCAI. Panelists include Katy Acheson, Executive Director of the Blue Economy Foundation; Jason Holm, Chatham Harbormaster; Story Reed, Deputy Director of Massachusetts Department of Marine Fisheries (DMF); Nathan Sears, Orleans Harbormaster; and Kristin Uiterwyk, Director of Urban Harbors Institute. Join us on The Hill for a meaningful night of film, conversation, and community under the stars. 🌊🎬
On Tuesday, July 14 @ 7 PM, Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum is hosting an outdoor screening of The Hand That Holds the Line, a powerful film honoring Cape Cod’s fishing community, the generations of knowledge behind it, and the people who continue to carry this way of life forward.
The evening will include a panel discussion, refreshments from The Shallop Bar, and a beautiful Provincetown Harbor backdrop.
🎟️ Tickets are available now. A portion of ticket sales will benefit the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance.
