Denture Center
The Denture Center, Inc.
While it may be tempting to fix cracked or broken dentures with a little glue, many types of glues contain chemicals which should not be ingested or used on dentures. If dentures do crack or chip, contact your dentist for an immediate and professional repair.
One challenge you will face with your new dentures is becoming comfortable with speaking once again. While this goes away, it’s best to practice reading and speaking aloud as much as possible to ease the transition. If you find yourself salivating excessively, sucking on mints can help.
Dentures can help you speak more clearly, but it does take a little bit of practice. Try reading out loud, and repeat problematic words until you feel comfortable saying them.
In the early 1800s, a variety of methods were used to hold artificial teeth and partial dentures in place. State of the art approaches included using silk strings or elastic gold bands to anchor inserts to adjacent teeth.
