SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
1 Kings 16:30-32 ESV
30 And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord, more than all who were before him. 31 And as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took for his wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him. 32 He erected an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria.
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT:
Kevin was a fourth-generation gang member. Every man in his family had made a life of drugs and violence. Each of them either died young or ended up in prison. So it was not a surprise when Kevin was arrested for killing six members of a rival gang. Trouble seemed to follow his family. The Book of 1 Kings lists a string of Israel’s kings who created a culture of idolatry among God’s people. The sinfulness got worse with each generation. God is looking for people who will work to reverse patterns of disobedience, not perpetuate them. Satan tries to suffocate God’s legacy in His children, but Christians can thwart this plan by obeying God’s Word and following the leading of the Holy Spirit. I want to encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to help you set the right example for your children and grandchildren.
