Well, there you have it folks. That’s a wrap on our loft apartment project.

As the wise Mariah Carey once said (based on the words from Phil Collins***): …..against all odds….

She said more things, but that’s really the point here; this project felt insurmountable a time or twelve, we felt like we cleaned as much as we built, but Ashley and I did this together. We would seal 20 windows, and look at the 150 on deck and longed for a sign of progress. Despite the days where we’d look around and feel the next task was indeterminant, we’d pick the other one up (mostly her picking me up, honestly) and grind the floors or repair windows or disobey my OSHA training.

But against all odds, we got it done.

Time to take a break. Rest a little. Crack a Guinness.

Stay tuned🤙🏼up next: Wildflowers and Wine short/mid-term rental in the Wherehaus🌸🍷

***how great was the Tarzan soundtrack?…

This was too much fun of a read not to share…🤣

The detail is more than we could ask for, haha!

The Wilder is our smaller of the two shipping container cabins, big enough to have everything you need and small enough to feel cozy and safe. Inspired by an old restaurant (well, several…) that occupied a historical building on Wayne Avenue in Dayton, Ohio, that always had a feeling like the mix of a saloon and underground jazz club.

We do pride ourselves in provided information on all the fun stuff there is to do in the area, as we know how much fun it can be to stumble upon a breathtaking view for the first time or connect with people you may have never met met but feel like long lost friends.

Anyway, grateful to all renters and especially those who take the time to share their experience with us!

More boring stuff to share on 603.

Not as boring as this Super Bowl though. I’d rather watch two people paint their nails with their non dominant hand in woolen gloves in the dark.

I digress.

As it is obvious, some of the rooms have a thick coating or coats of paint and epoxy. Takes a lot of effort to pull up. I’ve used a floor grinder for the bigger rooms and angle grinder with diamond blades elsewhere, and honestly the angle grinder with diamonds blades seems to work a lot smoother.

We were able to move through the rooms not epoxied pretty with the angle grinders, but not before one of our shop vacs crossed through the veil, so things got a little dusty…

Not seen was removing the antique door k***s (and puttying walls), that unfortunately we may not be able to salvage due to several missing pieces.

All good, we had a great time making progress on 603 of The Wherehaus.

Next we’re hoping to clean from the top down and get some paint on the walls; the floors have been the focus since we saw it as our biggest lift of the entire project, but we’ll look to pivot and chase a couple other items until we’re ready to coat the floors.

Stay tuned🤙🏼
