At The Navigation Center, we believe every child deserves the joy of summer. For children navigating housing instability, summer can mean losing the structure, meals, and sense of community that school provides.

This summer, we partnered with Second Presbyterian Church to host Vacation Bible School with the incredible support of the Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Charleston, SC Youth Group. It was an unforgettable week filled with singing, crafts, laughter, friendships, and the simple gift of letting children just be kids.

This is what walking alongside a family truly looks like—a community coming together with compassion, love, and hope.

A heartfelt thank you to Second Presbyterian Church for opening your doors, the St. Clare of Assisi Youth Group for pouring your hearts into these children, Chick-fil-A and Home Team BBQ of Charleston, SC for helping keep everyone well-fed, and to every volunteer who gave your time, energy, and love to make this week possible.

Together, you didn't just create a summer camp—you created memories, belonging, and hope. ❤️

Some of the best things that happen for our families this summer don’t happen at TNC at all, they happen because our community shows up.

This week, kids from our Navigator families head to Vacation Bible School at Second Presbyterian Church, with the youth group of Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, lending a hand and Chick-fil-a keeping bellies full.

Glue sticks, sing-alongs, a church full of noise and craft projects. No schedules to keep, nothing to worry about except snack time. A time of singing, crafting, silly and just being a kid.

This is what walking alongside a family actually looks like: a whole community, pulling in the same direction.

Every child deserves a summer like this one.

Walking alongside our community: Charleston County School District's McKinney-Vento Office is partnering with First Choice Select Health and The Navigation Center to support families in our community.
