Why every other religion gets this one thing backward

THE LIE YOU KEEP TELLING YOURSELF
The things we experience have a way of becoming our identities.
I didn't succeed, so I'm a failure. I'm not as gifted, so I'll never be useful. I keep blowing it, so what's the point of even trying?
If the way we define ourselves is based on our performance, there will come times when the only conclusion we can reach is that we are failures.
But then you open the Word of God. Romans 8:1 says, "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
It's like wind going back into your sails. There is a God who knows the hairs on your head and formed you in your mother's womb.
You are not defined by your worst moments. You are defined by a God who already knows you and has already declared: No condemnation.
What are you actually afraid people would do if they knew?

SERMON: "Profile of False Teachers" | 2 Peter 2:10b-16
Peter has previously warned us that false teachers are real and their judgment is certain. This week, he goes even deeper by building a profile so God’s people know exactly what to look for. In 2 Peter 2:10-16, Peter exposes the reckless arrogance, unchecked appetite, and greedy corruption that mark false teachers. God loves His church too much to leave them unequipped on how to spot these threats.

TWO WAYS YOU'RE QUIETLY LOSING YOUR FOUNDATION
A firm foundation is built when we stop chasing the new and start remembering what's already true. Peter says he wants to stir us up by way of reminder.
Why? Because we have a tendency to fall asleep when we get away from reminders. And that's where the first danger sneaks in.
The first danger is being distracted by what's new. If we only chase new information all day, it actually has a numbing effect on us.
The algorithms know exactly what we'd click next. But curiosity isn't always a virtue. Sometimes it's a vice.
The curious person is often too undisciplined to anchor down in basic truths. We chase the next headline, the next podcast, the next book, and never firm up our foundation.
The people most ready for suffering won't be the ones up to date on every new thing. They'll be the ones okay with having their hearts stirred back up by what is true, good, and beautiful.
The second danger is the opposite extreme: not thinking at all. Peter says he wants us to recall the truth, to bring it to mind when we need it.
So think, Christians. Think about what you believe, why you believe it, because your faith needs a solid foundation.
